Protective Styling: Mini-Twists

We love our natural hair! We color it, trim it up, twist it up, pin it up. If you think about it, we do a lot of man-handling to our tresses! In order to make sure we give our hair a break, we perform some protective styling! If you’re new to natural hair you’re probably wondering: what the heck is protective styling?!

Protective styling is a styling option for transitioners and naturals alike. Anything from wigs, braids (with or without extensions), sew-ins, all the way to the aforementioned MINI-TWISTS!

Mini-twists are similar to braids except it is performed with two sections of hair versus three. Mini-twists can be done with or without extensions as well and are a perfect option for the natural who is tired of fussing with her hair. Being naturally curly-kinky haired women, we know that constant manipulation of your hair can lead to premature breakage and damage. So if you’re trying to grow those coils out to their maximum potential, occasional protective styling is your friend!
In the video tutorial above, I’ll show you how to prepare your hair for your mini-twist installation. It’s a two part series so be sure to check out the Eugenia Says YouTube channel for part two! Hope you guys enjoy!
